Twitter has now announced the launch of a new web app version of their homepage. It is now accessible at Twitter.com from your Android or iOS device, although you may not see it immediately, as they’re rolling it out rather slowly.

While I haven’t seen the new interface (it’s not available to me), I’m told that it looks smart and slick. contains a row of icons at the top to mimic the official iPhone Twitter app, and is built with modern technologies like HTML5, and is said to be one of the best experiences yet seen in a web app.

Twitter says that the new app gives you access to your entire Twitter experience, including viewing, mentions, trending topics, search, lists and more. It was built from the ground up for mobile browsers and uses touch gestures and the full capabilities of modern devices larger screens.

The new Twitter app is not yet available to everyone but Twitter says that they are rolling it out today to a small percentage of users on iPhone, iPod touch and Android smartphones.
