Cupertino mayor Gilbert Wong held a press conference yesterday, following Steve Jobs’ presentation of Apple’s proposed “mothership” headquarters in that city.
Mayor Wong:
Cupertino is ready for this, there is no chance we are saying no. The mothership really has landed here in Cupertino.

The building will house 12,000 employees on a 150+ acre campus that will be 80% landscaped with 6,000 native trees, 90% underground parking and a natural gas-powered electrical generator while public grid power will only be used for backup. The city council will review Apple’s proposal for approval this fall with a groundbreaking early in 2012 and a completion date of 2015.
The City of Cupertino has a dedicated website to follow the mothership’s progress and has made Steve Jobs’ presentation slides [PDF, 2.3MB] available for download.
