In a very unique social experiment, app developer Jonathan Stark decided to take a picture of his Starbucks card (loaded with $30) and post it on the internet for the world to use. The idea behind the experiment is that other people would add to the card to keep the project alive – and it appears to have been rather successful!

All Stark asked in return for using his card to buy themselves coffee was for those that felt generous to contribute back to the card at their leisure. The result is that the card, as of Monday, had been loaded with nearly $4000!

Anybody that wants to can use Jonathan’s Card by simply visiting Stark’s website, downloading his card image, then scanning it the next time you go to Starbucks for coffee.

Ultimately, this classic pay-it-forward scheme has has a positive result, and despite certain websites that question whether or not Stark is or is not involved or affiliated with Starbucks, I still think this is a really cool idea!
