Growing up, I have fond memories of watching the Charlie Brown Christmas special on television every year. This year, however, Loud Crow Interactive has brought A Charlie Brown Christmas to the iPad in a brand new app ($6.99 $2.99, App Store).
The app takes the form of an interactive storybook, and retells the story of the classic 1965 television special in an all new way, adding games (who doesn’t want to play Schroeder’s piano, seriously), christmas caroling, and more.
While the app is more suited towards children, nostalgic adults might enjoy taking a peek as well, or enjoying the app with their kids, grandchildren, or other young people in their lives.
I love things like this – updating and modernizing classic stories to be more exciting and relevant for new generations. With any luck, Charlie Brown will continue delighting children and adults alike for generations to come.
A Charlie Brown Christmas is available now as a universal app for both iPhone and iPad, and costs $6.99 $2.99 through the App Store (App Store Link). As Mashable points out, those of you in the U.S. can also watch the entire original Charlie Brown Christmas through ABC’s iPad app.
