Apple Ranks Fourth in Greenpeace ‘Guide to Greener Electronics’

Apple has been ranked fourth in Greenpeace’s “Guide to Greener Electronics”. This is a good improvement on last year’s ranking, as they moved up 5 places, overtaking such companies as Phillips, Sony Ericsson and Samsung. However they still lagged behind HP, who came first, Dell, second, and Nokia third.

This is a sign of progress from Apple, and they are silencing their eco-conscious critics. They had previously been under fire for not being environmentally aware, and using harmful materials, such as arsenic and mercury, in their products, as well as for concerns over the level of pollution being put out by manufacturing partners.

With a score of 4.6/10, Apple came close to a podium finish, with Nokia who finished third only getting 4.9/10. Hopefully next year they can top the rankings, although beating HP may be a tall order.
