iPhone Surpasses Android in UK Sales Share

The iPhone has surpassed Android in U.K. smartphone sales, according to findings from Kantar’s Worldpanel ComTech, based only on the first two week’s sales of the iPhone 4S.

Apple’s October share reached nearly 43% in October, while Android decreased to 35%, suggesting that strong demand for the iPhone 4S is having a serious impact on Android sales.

The iPhone’s year-over-year sales also outpaced Android’s growth, with Apple gaining 2.8 percent share while Android’s share decreased nearly 4%.

With strong demand for the 4S continuing through November, it will be interesting to see how sales share pans out for the remainder of the year.

With continued strong demand for the 4S, and Apple’s reduced pricing on both the iPhone 4 and 3GS, Apple may be poised to continue dominating Android in the country for some time.
