National Geographic Offers Hundreds of Free Wallpapers For Mac & iOS

Posted in iOS, Mac on 14/11/2011 by J. Glenn Künzler

Although Apple already includes many beautiful desktop wallpapers on the Mac, as well as iOS, OS X Daily points out that National Geographic makes the photos from their annual photo contest available as well, optimized for desktop computers & iOS devices.

National Geographic is widely known for their stunning photographs, and their annual photo contest provides some of their very best pictures of all. This year’s entries have all been made available as scalable downloadable JPEG images.

This year’s photo contest entries can be found here, and at The Atlantic, but if none of those images catch your fancy, National Geographic provides a vast selection of additional wallpapers as well.

Most of the images are available in sizes up to 1600 x 1200, so those of you using larger displays may not get as clear of a picture as you’d like, but for those of you using laptops, iPhones, or iPads, you should find the images to be crisp and delightful.

If your technology experience lacks a deep appreciation of the wonders of nature (or if you just want to take a look at these amazing images), I’d highly encourage you to wander on over to National Geographic’s website.
