Samsung V Apple

Apple Defeats Samsung in Second German 3G Lawsuit

In yet another legal blow against Samsung, a German court rejected the Korean company’s second 3G-related patent infringement lawsuit against Apple, reports FOSS Patents (the first complaint was dismissed last week).

Despite this legal victory for Apple, however, the battle is far from over – Samsung already has another two  lawsuits lined up against Apple, this time related to emoticons. Yes, emoticons. The universal symbols that have become a staple of instant messaging and the internet.

The two companies have been tirelessly fighting each other for quite some time now, with wins and losses on both sides. It boggles my mind to even think about how many millions of dollars have been blown on this battle – millions of dollars that could be used to foster innovation rather than to pick fights. Can’t we all just get along?
