While no software unlock had been released yet for the iPhone 4S, Gevey has announced the Gevey Ultra S – a SIM card based carrier unlock for the iPhone 4S that promises to easily allow you to use the device on any carrier of your choosing.
As iDownloadBlog reports, Gevey’s new tool fits into your iPhone’s SIM card slot directly underneath your carrier’s SIM card, and Gevey claims that the device is able to unlock any iPhone 4S running iOS 5, or iOS 5.0.1 and sporting baseband version 1.0.11, 1.013, 1.0.14.
Further, unlike Gevey’s previous offerings, the new Ultra S does not rely on making a quick call to 112 (an international emergency number that redirects to 911 in the U.S.), making it much less legally and morally questionable than prior versions. There’s also no need to physically alter your SIM card, as has been necessary with Gevey’s previous devices.
The Ultra S will begin shipping in early March, and is available immediately for pre-order from ApplenBerry for $55. In the meantime, check out the below video to see the Ultra S in action.
