Retailers Slash iPad 2 Prices Ahead of iPad 3 Announcement

Regional big-box retailer Meijer has slashed their prices on the iPad 2, reports AppleInsider, and is now offering the 16GB Wi-Fi model for just $429. The deal is only available in stores, but the price has been announced on their website, as well as in their weekly ad. The reduced pricing will last until February 25th.

Similarly, some Target stores are also cutting prices on the iPad 2. I called around to two Target stores in my area, and found that both of them are offering $75 off of all iPads in stock, although not all Target locations are offering the discount.

These discounts are the steepest I have ever seen on new retail iPad 2s, and are more appealing even than last year’s Black Friday offering, which saw retailers such as Best Buy offering $45 off iPad 2 models.

The iPad 3 is widely expected to be announced in early March, and will likely feature a high-resolution Retina display, as well as a faster processor.
