Sprint published their Q4 2011 financial results this morning, in which the carrier reveals that they sold 1.8 million iPhones through out the holiday quarter, 40% of which were purchased by new customers.

“Our strong fourth quarter performance illustrates the power of matching iconic devices like the iPhone with our simple, unlimited plans and industry-leading customer experience,” said Dan Hesse, Sprint CEO

Unfortunately, Sprint still reported an overall net loss of $1.3 billion. The fact they they’re continuing to bring in a significant number of new customers, however, could very well turn those numbers around in the near future. Verizon and AT&T also announced strong, record-breaking sales of the iPhone 4S during the holiday quarter.
