More Evidence for 1GB of RAM in iPad 3

Chronic Wire points out some details from debug screenshots originally posted by BGR that suggest the next iPad will indeed feature 1GB of RAM. The number is calculated using the vm_page_bootstrap number, which adds up to a number close to 1GB of RAM.

It’s been in plain sight since the beginning of February when BGR posted their exclusive photos of debug output from an iPad 3 development unit. The (full) last line says:

vm_page_bootstrap: 244276 free pages and 8396 wired pages

So, just do some simple math:

       244,276 (pages) x 4,096 bytes (size of a page) = 1,000,554,496 bytes = 1GB (rounded)

Previous rumors have already suggested that the iPad 3 (or iPad HD) will feature 1GB of RAM, and this brings the matter one step closer to being confirmed. We’ll know for sure in just a few hours!
