The New iPad Is All About The Battery

The New iPad Is All About The Battery

Despite the many new upgrades to the iPad announced yesterday, the same 10 hours battery life (9 hours on 4G) has been retained. Not mentioned in the keynote however were the details: the battery is 42.5 watt rechargeable lithium polymer, which has 70% more capacity than the iPad 2’s 25 watt battery. That’s pretty staggering.

With the huge increase in battery capacity, it’s therefore a good guess that the battery itself will be a lot bigger than the already large iPad 2 battery (pictured), which means it probably covers at least 90% of the iPad’s volume on the inside.

It is unknown if the bigger battery will take longer to charge, but I’m definitely fully charged myself and I can’t wait to get hands on with the new iPad!
