Despite Huge Drop, Apple Still Leads North American Large LCD Market

Despite a huge drop in LED-backlit LCD monitor market share since 2010, Apple still leads the North American 24-inch and above LED LCD monitor market with a 26.2% share. Samsung is close behind with a 24.3% piece of the pie. The figures were for the year 2011.

A report from DigiTimes today says that Apple’s 26.2% share was a huge drop from the 53.3% piece it held in 2010. Meanwhile, Samsung’s share has jumped from its previous 12.3% share all the way up to 24.3%

In world-wide sales for 2011, Samsung held the number one spot in LCD monitor sales with a market share of 15.1%, beating out Dell’s 12.9% and HP’s 11.2%. Samsung also owned the top spot in LED backlit LCD panels during 2011, surpassing the 2010 leader LG for the top spot, and was ranked number one in sales for high-end TVs during the same year.

In world-wide sales of 24-inch and above LED backlit LCD monitors, the company held 34.7% of the global market in 2011, dropping Apple to second place.
