How to: Turn Your Mac Screen Down To Zero Brightness

Did you know you can reduced the brightness of your display to zero by simply clicking the following keys: Control + Shift + Eject.

To bring your display back to normal simply move your mouse or click a key.

This keyboard shortcut also works in Mac OS X Snow Leopard.

I use this method daily as I use an iMac and don’t wish to put the computer to sleep. By doing this you can reduce the running costs of your Mac.

How do I do it on the MacBook Air?

Better yet, use the corners and just one of the corners like bottom right to blank the screen.  Just swipe down/right and you’re done.

That particular keystroke resets the display!

Wow, what an odd command.  On my Mac Mini it seems to put it into sleep as I hear all the drives and fan shut down, yet it comes back instantly when you tap a key.  I guess it’s not actually sleeping though as streaming audio resumes instantaneously too.
