As I’ve mentioned in previous reviews, I am always in search of the perfect iPhone case. Over the 4 months I’ve had my 4S, I have tried at least 10 different cases. My preference runs toward leather cases, but those I’ve tried start looking rough after just a few weeks, and have a tendency to fly open when I drop the phone, exposing the screen to the possibility of breakage. Recently I got to try the Proporta Apple iPhone 4S Leather Case. Will it be an improvement?
Overview
The iPhone 4S Leather Case is crafted from what appears to be fine quality leather, the case covers both the front and back of the device. One added feature I really liked was the aluminum plate in the front cover flap that covered the front glass when closed. I liked the added protection provided by the aluminum plate making me feel a little more secure that my phone was protected against breakage in case I dropped it. A magnetic feature keeps the flap closed on the case when you’re not using the phone, giving extra protection.
The case protected without adding too much bulk to the phone, enabling it to still fit easily into the pockets of my jeans.
While the cover efficiently protected my iPhone, there were some drawbacks to the case. One, which I’ve found is a drawback for most cases with a front flap, when using the phone to take a photo, extra care must be taken to ensure the flap doesn’t come down into the photo. One other drawback was since the case prevented the phone from being used with most docks, (at least the 3 different music and charging devices I own,) I needed to remove the case before docking the phone. After doing this for a few weeks, the case became loose, and allowed the phone to slip free of the case if I didn’t make sure to close the flap.
Verdict
The Proporta iPhone 4S Leather Case is an excellent case, and should be considered by anyone wanting a leather case for their iPhone 4 or 4S. The case is crafted beautifully, and is a handsome design, and would be a good choice for someone wanting a little extra elegance from their case, while still allowing for sufficient protection. The added protection of the aluminum plate in the front leather flap is an excellent addition to the already fine protection this case offers.

- Elegant leather case, attractive and well made. The finish of the leather kept it looking good.

Cons:
- Flap can get in the way of the lens when using the camera.
- Case must be removed to use the iPhone with a dock.
- The case became loose after a few weeks usage, allowing the phone to slide out of the case.
