How to: Make Your Calculator Talk

Did you know that your Mac Calculator can talk to you?

Simply navigate to your Application folder and launch Calculator. Once open you will be presented with the following view of your calculator:

Speech by default is deactivated. You can simply turn it on by navigating to Speech in the Menu Bar and the following options will appear:

When you first go to the Speech menu these will not be selected hence the ticks will not be present.

Speak Button Pressed will simply speak the calculator button your have pressed on either the onscreen display, your keyboard, or keypad.

Speak Result will simply speak the answer to the equation you have entered.

I find these option very handy when doing my weekly accounts especially when using the wireless keyboard without the number pad. It helps me notice when I have made a mistake.
