Mountain Lion Developer Preview Update: Facebook Notification and PowerNap Settings

Today’s update to the OS X Mountain Lion developer preview has introduced new options for Facebook users, and there are also reports of PowerNap options showing up for some users.

9 to 5 Mac:

Specifically, Facebook will now support native OS X banner notifications, as seen in the screenshot above, for actions such as Wall posts and inbox messages. Facebook support in Notification Center has been previously announced, but this is the first time we’ve seen it active.

This build does not offer integration with Facebook Chat in the Messages app, but it is possible to setup Chat separately, which means you’ll get banner notifications about your new messages, you’ll just have to go through your browser to answer them.

Also, new settings for PowerNap are reported to be showing up for some users. Our guess is it’s showing up for machines that meet the PowerNap requirements. PowerNap allows iCloud and email updates to continue even while the computer is in sleep mode.
