iTunes Store Experiencing Global Outages (Update: Resolved)

iTunes Store Experiencing Global Outages (Update: Resolved)

Apple’s iTunes Store has gone down for many users across the globe (as of 15:52 MT), who are receiving the following error message when they attempt to access any part of the store using iTunes (including the App Store).

MacTrast has been able to confirm the issue with readers in various parts of the United States, as well as Australia, although the issue is likely affecting other regions as well. It’s unclear what has caused the outage, but it’s likely related to Apple updating the content in its various stores.

We’ll keep you updated, and let you know once we hear it’s back up! Thanks to MacTrast reader Andrew Van Woert for alerting us of the problem!

Update: (16:16 MT): We’re now hearing that the outage is affecting readers in Canada and the U.K. as well.

Update 2 (16:23 MT): Some are reporting that the outage only affects iTunes on the Mac or PC, while others report that it is down for all devices. We are able to access the App Store and iTunes Store from iOS, although content remains unavailable in the desktop version of iTunes.

Update 3 (16:34 MT): The iTunes Store now appears to be back up for some users (including us), but remains down for others.

Update 4 (16:42 MT): iTunes Store now appears to be back up for most users. Please let us know if you continue to have problems. Total downtime (from first mention we noticed) was just under an hour.
