Apple Seeds iOS 6.1 Beta 1 to Developers

Hot on the heels of the release of iOS 6.0.1, Apple has now released the first beta of iOS 6.1 to registered developers. The update is available for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad 2, and third-gen iPads, and fourth- and fifth-gen iPod touch – although it is not yet available for the iPad mini or 4th-gen iPad…

It’s unclear exactly what is new, although there are some changes to Maps, Passbook handling, and Mobile Safari. We’ll keep you updated with any significant details as we come across them. There’s also a developer preview of Xcode 4.6.

Apple mentions a number of changes and known issues, including several related to how developers can integrate Apple’s new mapping service in their apps, as well as an improvement to how boarding passes are handled in Passbook, and a few minor changes to Safari.

Registered developers can download the betas through Apple’s Developer portal.
