Chinese Woman Gets Nasty Shock When She Tries To Buy Too Many iPhones

Xiaojie Li, from Newton, Massachusetts, got a nasty shock when she was told she couldn’t purchase more than two iPhone 5s at once at her local Apple Store.

However the real shock came when she wouldn’t back down. Police officers removed her from the store before pinning her to the ground and tasering her, WCVB reports (via Cult of Mac).

Interestingly, Xiaojie was carrying $16,000 in cash when arrested, suggesting that this may have been more than, as she claimed, buying iPhones for her family in China.

WCVB:

Jay [the daughter] said her mother bought two iPhones last Friday, and was told that was the limit. When she took video of others she claimed were buying more, the store manager asked her to leave.

The confrontation involving the Taser happened when Li went to the store on Monday to pick up two iPhones she ordered online.

While the language barrier definitely had it’s part to play, scalpers are fairly common, and with $16,000 I reckon it wasn’t for personal reasons. Perhaps it was a bit extreme for her to be tasered, but it’s definitely suspicious on Xiaojie’s part.
