Apple Announces 128GB iPad With Retina Display – On Sale February 5

Apple Announces 128GB iPad With Retina Display – On Sale February 5

Tuesday, Apple announced they’ll be launching a new model in their full-size iPad With Retina Display line. The 128GB iPad will be available starting February 5, in black or white, for a suggested retail price of $799 (US) for the iPad with Wi-Fi model and $929 (US) for the iPad with Wi-Fi + Cellular model. All versions of the 128GB iPad will be sold through the Apple Online Store (www.apple.com), Apple retail stores and select Apple Authorized Resellers. The new model doubles the previously largest available storage.

The larger model had been rumored earlier this week, following the discovery of references to a new iOS device with a storage capacity of 128GB in the newly released iOS 6.1 software update, and after new iPad SKUs appeared for a major retailer. Previously, all iOS devices had a top storage space of 64GB.

Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing:

“With more than 120 million iPads sold, it’s clear that customers around the world love their iPads, and everyday they are finding more great reasons to work, learn and play on their iPads rather than their old PCs. With twice the storage capacity and an unparalleled selection of over 300,000 native iPad apps, enterprises, educators and artists have even more reasons to use iPad for all their business and personal needs.”

Other than the higher storage capacity, the new 128GB model is identical to the previously-released 4th-generation models. The iPad With Retina Display lineup include the A6X processor, forward facing FaceTime HD camera, and of course the 9.7-inch Retina display.
