iOS 6.1 Already In Final Testing, Could be Released to Developers at Any Moment

It’s been awhile since Apple released a significant update to iOS, despite the fact that they have been testing their forthcoming iOS 6.1 update since last November. According to a report from iFun, however, that update could be arriving in developers’ hands at any moment.

From iFun (Google translation from German):

Yesterday only we had pointed out that the release of iOS is slowly overdue 6.1. How could we now know from a reliable source, the next and therefore the fifth beta version is about to be released for developers.

Currently running well yet extensive internal testing, the results will determine whether the next beta same as gold master and therefore as a last and final pre-release announcing the upcoming release of all iOS users.

iOS 6.1 brings to previous findings, no major changes, but mainly deals with bug fixes and optimizations in the areas of connectivity and interface. In the last pre-release Apple turns according to our information only gently to the fine adjustments. We think it is quite possible that Apple today or on Monday evening, the next development version releases.

iFun doesn’t have much of a track record that lends or takes away credibility from their report, and the timing of Apple’s iOS 6.1 betas makes the report seem relatively likely. However, nothing is official until Tim Cook swings his mighty hammer of  official Apple confirmation.
