Apple Seeds 14th OS X 10.8.3 Build (12D78) to Developers

In yet another continuation to Apple’s exhaustive testing for the upcoming OS X 10.8.3 update, Apple today seeded yet another build to developers today – their 14th build since testing began last November. The latest update comes just 6 days after the previous build, bears a build number of 12D78, and Apple again lists no known issues with the update.

As with previous builds, Apple once again asks developers to pay attention to AirPlay, AirPort, Game Center, Graphics Drivers, and Safari when testing their apps against the build, and exploring it in general. The update is available now through Software Update for users already using a beta build, although it is not yet available from Apple’s developer page. We’ll let you know once we hear it is available through the developer portal.

It’s unclear exactly what is taking Apple so long to release this update – I’ve never seen a “minor” OS X update go through 14 separate developer betas, or endure such an extremely long period of testing. Either Apple is stalling for some reason, or there are some major problems with OS X Mountain Lion they’re trying to tackle!
