A recent report from Citrix (PDF) says the iOS continues to be the preferred mobile platform in the business world.

CNET:

Looking specifically at business customers who use its cloud-based management software, Citrix found that iOS was No. 1 with 58 percent adoption in last year’s fourth quarter. Android took second place with a 35 percent share, followed by Window Mobile with only 7 percent. Among all deployed iOS devices using Citrix’s sofware, iPads accounted for 53 percent and iPhones for 46 percent.

iOS edged up two percentage points from the previous quarter, with Android’s share dropping a matching two. While iOS remained the dominant leader globally, Android’s share in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa jumped 11 points to 36%, while iOS’s share dropped 13 points to to 43%.

Why no word on BlackBerry, who used to be king of the corporate jungle?

A Citrix representative told CNET that while the company does support BlackBerry, collecting data on those devices requires a special piece of software, which Citrix didn’t use for this report. However, Citrix says it is considering inclusion of BlackBerry data in future reports.

Companies do continue to blacklist certain “time-waster” apps from company owned devices. Top forbidden apps include Angry Birds, Facebook, Dropbox, YouTube, and Skype.

Interestingly enough, Skype is also on the list of approved apps, which also includes Evernote, NitroDesk TouchDown, Chrome, and Adobe Reader.
