Supposed Part Leaks Reveal iPhone 5S Home Button, Flex Cable, and Vibrator

While there has been a great deal of rumor and speculation regarding Apple’s next-gen ‘iPhone 5S,’ there has so far been very little leaked hardware to back up those rumors. Nowhereelse.fr (via MacRumors) has revealed images of a pair of supposed parts for the iPhone 4S, including the vibration motor and the home button.

The parts were originally posted by Moumantai, a Japanese vendor, and are notably different than those found in the current iPhone 5. The above photo shows the suspected iPhone 5S parts in comparison to those found in the iPhone 5. It’s worth noting that the leaked home button does not seem to contain a fingerprint sensor, at least at first glance, casting doubt on rumors that Apple may add such a measure to the next-gen handset.

The vibration motor for the iPhone 5S os also notably different than the motor in the iPhone 5, featuring a more compact cabling system. While there’s no way of knowing for sure whether these parts are authentic, and even if they are, there’s no way to tell whether they are intended for the ‘iPhone 5S,’ Apple’s rumored budget iPhone, or even a prototype of either device. The serial numbers are similar on the iPhone 5 home button assembly and the rumored iPhone 5S part, however, suggesting that the parts are likely authentic Apple components.

I’ve got a feeling this is likely among the first of many hardware leaks we’ll see in the coming months, as is standard leading up to the release of new Apple products. Stay tuned!
