Apple Reaches 1 Billion Podcast Subscription Milestone, Celebrates With New iTunes Section

Late yesterday evening, Apple made a huge announcement about their podcast program: they’ve now reached a whopping 1 billion podcast subscriptions through iTunes! Apple made the official announcement through their Podcasts page in the iTunes Store, and are celebrating the occasion by highlighting mane of their most popular podcasts in a new section of iTunes.

Podcasts on iTunes launched in the summer of 2005 and since then, we’ve seen countless episodes downloaded and streamed. But the heart of podcasting is finding your favorite voices in this exciting field and subscribing to the best ones. To celebrate 1 billion podcast subscriptions, we’re highlighting some of the most popular podcasts of all times, as well as a collection of captivating new shows.

Their new custom iTunes Podcast section features a number of popular podcasts in categories such as “Classics,” “New and Noteworthy,” and “What’s Hot.” NPR, This Week in Tech, and other big names top the list of some of the most popular podcasts of all time.
