Tumblr Releases Update for iOS App – Fixes Password Compromising Bug

If you use the Tumblr iOS app, be sure to download a new update that became available Tuesday, and while you’re at it, change the password you use on the service. In a blog post, the company says that the update addresses an issue that allows passwords to be compromised in certain situations.

We have just released a very important security update for our iPhone and iPad apps addressing an issue that allowed passwords to be compromised in certain circumstances. Please download the update now.

If you’ve been using these apps, you should also update your password on Tumblr and anywhere else you may have been using the same password. It’s also good practice to use different passwords across different services by using an app like 1Password or LastPass.

Tumblr didn’t supply details of the security flaw, but you should always take action to change your password whenever any service announces a flaw and an update such as this.

The Tumblr app is available FREE for the iPad and iPhone in the App Store. [DIRECT LINK]
