Skype released a much-needed update today for their iOS app, adding support for 720p HD video calling on the iPhone 5 and 4th-gen iPad, as well as a number of performance, design, and stability improvements. HD calling has been available on the Mac, and other mobile devices for some while now, only just now being added for iOS devices.

Today we’re pleased to release Skype for iPhone and Skype for iPad, version 4.10.
Latest improvements:
- Audio and video call quality and stability improvements.
- Make HD (720p) quality video calls from your iPhone 5 or iPad 4 (iOS devices with Retina display).
- A new, easier to use country code selector on the dialpad.
- Stability improvements for users of iOS 7 beta. We realize that some of you are using iOS 7 beta and have been experiencing some instability with Skype – this release fixes some of the major issues you were facing. We hope you find this update a significant improvement, and we will offer full iOS 7 support when it’s officially released.

The updates are available now for immediate download from the App Store, and are, as always, free updates for all users.
