Review: Diamonds Paradise – An Exciting Arcade-Style Action Puzzler for iOS

Arcade style games offer entertainment, colorful graphics and the ability to face-off against an opponent. The best part about modern technology? Not having to leave the comfort of your couch for a rousing, combative arcade-style game.

Overview

Diamonds Paradise, free in the App Store, offers users a unique gaming experience, as well as the ability to take on opponents from all over the globe. Dubbed a “diamond game” Diamonds Paradise has a simple objective, but don’t be fooled, the game itself proves to be quite challenging.

Upon launching for the first time, Diamonds Paradise offers a very thorough tutorial, providing players with ample information and game play to prepare them for the gaming arena. Once players have completed the tutorial and a few test runs, they are ready for battle. To challenge an opponent, players simply select the large play button on the main screen of the app. Once players select the play option, a random opponent is selected and the game begins!

Initially, the first few games can be confusing, even with the thorough tutorial offered in the beginning. After a few rounds, I began to get the hang of it and started to really enjoy it. Simply connect the longest string of the same color diamonds as possible. With each turn and chain of diamonds created, the chain is then the color of whichever opponent connected them, either blue, or red. Once players begin the game, they can reuse diamonds from existing chains created by themselves, or their opponent. Users can use bonus items to help create chains and expand cells using various rewards from gameplay to help them defeat opponents.

While the objective seems simple enough, games can go on for quite some time. Once chains of diamonds are created, they are considered cells, the more cells you have, the more likely you are to win. Being that diamond chain within a created cell can be reused by your opponent, they can then be removed from a cell and placed in the opponent’s cell. The first player to capture 35 cells is the winner.

Verdict [rating:4]
