AppleInsider:

Verizon Chief Financial Officer Fran Shammo announced that the iPhone accounted for 51 percent of its 7.6 million total smartphone activations in the third quarter. That would place total iPhone activations for the three-month period at about 3.9 million.

The same three month period in 2012 saw Verizon activating 3.1 million iPhones, showing a 26% year-over-year growth for Apple sales through the carrier.

Total smartphone activations for Verizon were up 12% from the previous year ago period, meaning Apple’s iPhone easily outpaced other offerings by the carrier.

iPhone upgraders are also driving Verizon’s wireless data revenue higher, as customers upgrade from older 3G devices to 4G LTE capable devices like the iPhone 5c and 5s. LTE users, as a rule, tend to use more bandwidth.
