Mac Users are Four Times More Apt Than Windows Users to Run Latest OS

ComputerWorld has come up with some self-calculated figures that indicate Mac users are four times more likely to upgrade to the latest version of their computer’s operating system than users of Windows machines are.

Microsoft has convinced just 11.6 percent of Windows users who acquired their system since 2001 and still actively use it to go online to migrate to the current edition of its operating system […]

Apple’s convinced 41.6 percent of Mac users who acquired their system since 2001 and still actively use them online to adopt the current edition of the OS.

It certainly doesn’t hurt that the latest version of OS X – Mavericks – was free this go round, and previous versions of the OS were priced much more competitively than Windows upgrades.

Another contributor to the upgrade love fest on the Mac is that OS X upgrades tend to be more of the added features type, not the “here’s a whole new interface, have fun!” genre, such as Windows 8.
