Apple Debuts New $199 16GB iPod touch – Drops Prices on 32/64GB Models

Apple has released a new entry-level $199 16GB model of its fifth-generation iPod touch. The company has also cut the price on its 32/64GB models to $249 and $299, respectively. The new 16GB model now includes a rear-facing camera, and is available in six different colors.

Apple® today announced its 16GB iPod touch® is now available in vibrant colors and equipped with a 5 megapixel iSight® camera for just $199. The entire iPod touch lineup features the 5 megapixel iSight camera with 1080p HD video recording, brilliant 4-inch Retina® display, Apple’s A5 chip and FaceTime® camera. iPod touch features an ultra-thin and light anodized aluminum design and is available in pink, yellow, blue, silver, space gray and (PRODUCT) RED. iPod touch comes in a 16GB model for $199, 32GB for $249, and 64GB for $299.  

The 16GB model now includes all of the features of its more expensive brethren, lacking only the Loop wrist strap. The strap can be purchased separately for $9. The strap is still included with the 32/64GB models.

The 16GB iPod touch was previously priced at $229, was only available in Space Grey, lacked a rear-facing camera, and was unable to make use of the Loop wrist strap.

The iPod touch is available from Apple Retail Stores, Apple’s online store, and Apple Authorized Resellers.
