Apple is Approving iOS 8 Optimized Apps, But Extensions Aren’t Working Yet

Apple has officially begun approving iOS 8-optimized apps for the App Store, however developers are finding that their extensions aren’t working properly in their updated apps.

iOS 8

MacRumors:

While a number of developers have been tweaking their apps to work better with iOS 8 over the past few months, the major step forward comes as apps begin to support the new functionalities supported in iOS 8.

Examples of extensions not working can be found in OmniFocus 2 for iPhone, and popular calculator app PCalc. OmniFocus 2’s list of tasks isn’t showing up in the “Today” view in the Notification Center, and a similar issue is occurring in PCalc.

Currently, the issue doesn’t affect any users other than those who are running the Golden Master of iOS 8 on their devices.

PCalc developer James Thomson says that he has been in touch with Apple, and the company has told him they’re working on the problem.

The issue shouldn’t require developers to resubmit apps, and hopefully will be fixed in time for tomorrow’s public release of iOS 8.
