Apple Dropping Boot Camp Support for Windows 7 for Latest MacBooks

Apple’s newest MacBook Pro, and the upcoming 12-inch MacBook, will not support running Windows 7 via Boot Camp. The two laptops join Apple’s most recent Mac Pro in requiring Windows 8 or later. The information was recently published in a Boot Camp support document published by Apple.

Users that need to run Windows on their Macs will be required to upgrade to Windows 8 or higher, or look for an alternative solution, such as Parallels Desktop, VMWare Fusion, or VirtualBox. All three of those solutions have the extra added feature of being able to run Windows alongside your Mac applications. Boot Camp has always required a reboot to switch between Windows or OS X.
