Apple Likely to Release iOS 8.4 Golden Master and iOS 9 Beta 2 Later Today

BGR report claims Apple will likely seed the golden master of iOS 8.4 to registered developers today. The updated mobile operating system is scheduled for a June 30 public release alongside the debut of the Apple Music streaming service.

The report also notes beta 2 of iOS 9 should also be released today, however it hedges its bets a bit by noting that the release date may be pushed back to June 29.

The iOS 8.4 GM release should be the final pre-release version before Apple releases the update to the public. Apple Music will require iOS 8.4, so the update should hit devices sometime in the next eight days.

Apple Music – announced at WWDC 2015 earlier this month – will include on-demand streaming music, the Beats 1 24-hour-a-day worldwide radio station, and Apple Music Connect, where artists can share lyrics, backstage photos, videos, or even release their latest song directly to fans.

Starting on June 30, the service will be available as a 3-month free membership, after which a $9.99/month subscription fee will apply. A family plan will also be available, offering service for up to six family members for just $14.99/month.

Apple Music will be available on the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and PC starting June 30. Apple Music will be coming to Apple TV and Android phones this fall.
