Apple Releases iOS 9 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch Devices

Apple has today released the iOS 9 update to an adoring public. The download is available to users of an iPhone 4S or later, iPad 2 or later, or fifth-generation iPod touch, or any iPad mini. (Basically, if your device could run iOS 8, you’re good to go.)

The update can be accessed via iTunes, or via the Over the Air update method. (“Settings” -> “General” -> “Software Update”) We shared the quick and easy steps to install iOS 9 on your device in a post earlier today. You can read it here.

If the download isn’t showing up for you yet, keep trying, it may take awhile for the update to get to everyone, and the traffic hit on Apple’s servers will almost assuredly be overwhelming.

Apple’s servers get hit pretty hard when a new iOS version is released. So, be patient and remember that this isn’t going to be a 10 minute process for most of us. You might even want to wait until you get home tonight, grab a glass of wine/beer/soda/water/Bosco, and find a good book to read, and then try the update.

Have fun updating, and share you thoughts about Apple’s latest and greatest mobile operating system in the comments section below!
