The Pixelmator Team has released Pixelmator for iOS 2.1, an update to their popular image editing app for iPhone and iPad devices. The new version offers support for iOS 9, including Split View and Slide Over support for the iPad, the ability to open and edit 8K resolution images, and more.

Pixelmator for iOS 2.1 update includes support for iOS 9, multitasking on iPad via Split View and Slide Over, 8K resolution support, Open in Place and Save to Photos features, and more.

The updated image editor now supports the new Open in Place feature, allowing users to open Pixelmator images from anywhere they want, and save the changes in the same place. This allows all of the most recent edits to be in the same document. Save to Photos allows users to open an image from Photos, edit it, and save it back to the same image without creating a copy. Pixelmator 2.1 also allows the use of Spotlight to quickly find Pixelmator documents.

iOS 9 multitasking support allows users to work in Pixelmator and any other app side-by-side. SlideOver allows users to open a second app without needing to leave Pixelmator, then slide the app away to return to editing an image. Split View allows working in Pixelmator and a second app at the same time, side-by-side. The new version also supports Picture-in-Picture, allowing users to view a video or video chat while working on an image.

The app’s new 8K support allows users to edit images of up to 64-megapixels on both the iPad and iPhone.
