KFC to Accept Apple Pay in U.S. Restaurants

It’s a big day for fast food chicken lovers as first Chick-fil-A announced a free chicken sandwich with the download of their new app, and now KFC has announced that it now accepts Apple Pay, Android Pay, Samsung Pay and other forms of mobile payments at some of its U.S. restaurants. Nationwide adoption of the new payments should be completed by end of summer.

In addition to allowing users to tap and pay with their Android, Apple and Samsung devices inside the restaurants, the new mobile payment system will be functional in KFC drive-thrus as well.

“Ease of use and functionality were our first priorities,” said Chris Caldwell, KFC U.S. Chief Information Officer. “When we factored in consumer concerns about security and privacy, we identified Android Pay, Apple Pay and Samsung Pay as the best options for our guests.”

The new payment option comes in the wake of KFC’s recent effort to improve the customer experience, by retraining employees, offering quicker service, and improved food. The chain is redesigning 70% of their U.S. restaurants.
