At Least One Popular Porn Site Took a Traffic Hit During the iPhone 7 Media Event

For all the statistics thrown around on Wednesday, both during and after Apple’s big iPhone 7 media event, there are a few stats that weren’t uncovered until just recently. It seems one popular porn site took quite a traffic hit during the iPhone streaming event. (The above link is SFW, (depending on where you work), the rest of the site… Not so much.)

Apple iPhones and iPads account for over 35% of Pornhub’s 60 million daily visitors. Because the live show was only available on Apple devices, we found that worldwide traffic from iOS dropped as much as 9.5% during the show. Excitement over Apple’s shiny new ebony jet black handheld may also explain the increase over normal traffic in the hours immediately following the show.

(It should be noted that there actually were ways to watch the iPhone 7 event on non-Apple devices and computers, it just took a bit of work to set up…)

In addition, Pornhub saw an 8.8% traffic drop from Safari browsers including desktop traffic. However, that doesn’t mean Apple device users missed out on their daily porn fix completely, as in the hours following the show, Safari traffic to Pornhub showed an increase of as much as 6% above normal levels for a Wednesday afternoon.

There aren’t any numbers on which streaming video was more stimulating to fans, the streaming iPhone 7 video from the media event, or Pornhub’s usual fare. And perhaps we should just leave it at that. There are some things that man is just not meant to know.
