Note: This how-to assumes you have more than one browser installed on your Mac. (DUH!)

  1. Click the Apple logo in the upper left-hand corner of your Mac’s Desktop.How to Change the Default Browser in macOS
  2. Click the “System Preferences…” option from the pull-down menu that appears.
  3. Click the “General” icon in the System Preferences window.

  4. A little more than halfway down the General window, you’ll see the “Default web browser” option. Click the pull-down menu next to the label.

  5. Click the name of the browser you wish to set as your default browser.
  6. Close the General window.

Now, whenever you click a URL in an email or other document, it will automatically load in your selected browser. Whenever you decide to try out a different browser as your default browser, simply follow the steps above and quickly change the default.
