Apple Pay Could Launch in Germany as Soon as September

Apple Pay’s delayed debut in Germany has been said due to stalled negotiations between Apple and German banks over things such as fees, and who controls what. However, it looks as if Apple’s contactless payments system could debut in the country as soon as September.

MacRumors:

While setting up a new Apple Watch on the fifth regional betas of iOS 11 and watchOS 4, developer Philipp Ebener was presented with the option to add German bank cards to Apple Pay for the first time.

Ebener says he wasn’t able to actually register any of his German credit cards with Apple Pay. However, this does bode well for the contactless payment system’s debut sometime soon in Germany. Full activation could debut alongside the public launch of iOS 11 and watchOS 4 later this year.

Apple is expected to launch iOS 11 and watchOS 4 alongside new models of the iPhone and Apple Watch later this year, likely in September. We’ll keep you posted as to an exact date.
