How To View Only Unread or Flagged Emails in the iOS 11 Mail App on Your iPhone

If you’re like me, you send links, files, and other information to your own email address for later access. It’s a great way to save information for future articles, how to posts, and more. I always leave them unopened, so I’ll see the unread items in my inbox and remind me.

But, if you sent something to yourself a few days or even few weeks ago, the item you’re looking for could be buried under a mound of emails. Sure, you could search the mailbox, but what if you come up blank for a search term?

Luckily, it’s simple to view only your unread or flagged items in your iOS 11 Mail Inbox, and it takes just a few taps of the screen.

How To View Only Unread or Flagged Messages in the iOS 11 Mail App on Your iPhone

1.) Open the Mail app on your iPhone.

2.) Tap on the mailbox you wish to view.

3.) Once the mailbox opens, look for the Filter icon in the lower left-hand corner of the Mail screen. (It looks like a circle with three lines inside.)

4.) You will now see only the unread items that are in your mailbox. (Or it could be displaying “Flagged” items. If so, tap the “Filtered by:” link in the middle bottom of the screen, and tap “Unread” on the “Filter” screen. Tap “Done” to return to the mailbox screen.)

5.) Once you’ve finished, tap the Filter icon again to return to the normal view of your mailbox.

This tip makes it easy to see only your Unread or Tagged items in your mailbox. Saving you from long sessions of swiping through your entire mailbox.
