Overview

The VAVA Voom 21 (I see what they did there), is a well built Bluetooth speaker, with a black matte finish. The 3.937 x 2.125 X 9.251-inch oval unit weighs in at a somewhat hefty 1.76 pounds. While it’s not the most petite or lightest speaker on the market, The Voom 21 is surprisingly easy to tote around, and you probably wouldn’t notice it in your backpack.

The curved casing of the Voom holds a 20W speaker, with a 70 mm woofer, two 40 mm tweeters, and two 65mm passive radiators. The unit is powered by a 6700mAh lithium-ion battery, which is rated for about 10 hours of music playback at a moderate volume level.

The stylish black box the the VAV Voom 21 arrived in contains the following:

  • 1 x VAVA Voom 21 Bluetooth Portable Speaker
  • 1 x 15V DC Power Adapter
  • 1 x Micro-USB Charging Cable
  • 1 x 3.5mm Audio Cable
  • 1 x User Guide

The Voom 21 offers support for Bluetooth 4.0 playback, and can also be connected to non-bluetooth audio playback devices via a 3.5mm AUX port. The speaker can quickly connect to NFC-equipped Android devices with none of the usual Bluetooth pairing steps. iPhone users will still need to do the usual Bluetooth pairing routine.

Up to two devices at once can be paired with the speaker, and you can seamlessly switch from one device to the other. The speaker’s USB output port can be used with your device’s USB charging port to keep your mobile device charged.

I found that the Voom 21 did a great job playing back any type of content I pumped through it, everything from Bluegrass, to Country, to Pop, to Hard Rock, to Podcasts sounded great coming through the Voom 21. The speaker offers three EQ modes, (Classic, Party & Surround). However, there isn’t any easy way to tell which mode the speaker is in.

I also found that while I didn’t get the full 10 hours as advertised out of the speaker, I did get a solid 8 hours out of it, so it will last most work days, your overtime performance may vary.

Verdict

Rating: 4.0/5.0

I enjoyed my time with the VAVA Voom 21 Bluetooth Speaker. The Voom pumps out great sound, easily filling any room in my house with excellent sound levels. The Voom sounded great with any type of music, and provided hours of tunes before needing a recharge.

While the Voom isn’t the cheapest, or the lightest speaker in its performance range, it’s light enough to throw into your backpack, and the speaker’s sound providers plenty of bang for the buck. I would happily recommend the VAVA Voom 21 to anyone looking for a great sounding, long-lasting portable Bluetooth Speaker.

The VAVA Voom 21 Bluetooth Speaker will run you a reasonable price of $89.99 USD. For more information about the VAVA Voom 21, visit the VAVA website. To purchase the Voom, visit Amazon.com.
