Do you want to protect your Wi-Fi network with a secure password, but you find it’s a real pain in the butt to tell someone the password when they need to connect to your network? iOS 11 makes it easy to share your network’s password, no matter how complicated it is.

Note: For the following to work, there are a few requirements:

  • Both iOS devices have to be running iOS 11
  • Both devices must have Bluetooth turned on
  • Both users have to be in each other’s contact list

When your friend wants to connect to your Wi-Fi network, all they need to do is simply go to: “Settings” -> “Wi-Fi” and tap on your Wi-Fi network’s name.

A dialog box will pop up on your unlocked iPhone or iPad (as seen above), asking if you want to share the Wi-Fi password for your network with the other party. Tap the “Share Password” button in the dialog box.

After a short delay, the other user’s iOS device will automatically fill in the password, and will join the network.
