How to Adjust Do Not Disturb on Your iPhone and iPad

Do Not Disturb is a great feature that allows you to silence any phone calls, alerts, or notifications that you may get while your iOS device is locked. It’s also easy to adjust when the feature automatically turns on and turns off. Here’s how.

How to Adjust Do Not Disturb on Your iPhone and iPad

When Do Not Disturb is enabled, you’ll see a  in the status bar.

There are two ways to toggle Do Not Disturb on/off. You can either swipe up on your iOS 11 device’s screen and toggle DND by tapping the moon icon, as shown below left. Or, you can go to “Settings” -> “Do Not Disturb” to turn the feature on or off, as seen below right.

You can also set a schedule if don’t want to be disturbed at a certain time. Just Tap “Settings” -> “Do Not Disturb” and toggle “Scheduled” to “ON”. (The switch will turn green.) Set a timespan for DND to be enabled.

You can also choose when you want to receive alerts, calls, and notifications:

  • Silence: Choose to silence calls and notifications always or only when the device is locked.
  • Allow Calls From: Allow calls from everyone, no one, your favorites, or specific contact groups stored on your device or iCloud.
  • Repeated Calls: If someone calls you twice within three minutes, the second call isn’t silenced.

Note: If you have an alarm set, it will still sound at the designated time, even if Do Not Disturb is turned on.

By setting Do Not Disturb to turn on and off automatically, you’ll ensure you won’t be disturbed while you’re trying to get a little shuteye, or in the middle of your daily meditation sessions. (Also known as a coffee break.)
