According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, Steve Jobs, despite his medical leave, continues to man the helm at Apple in a capable manner, and still remains very actively involved in the day-to-day operations of the massive Cupertino corporation. The report indicates that he has been working from home, and even holding business meetings there.
Robby Wilkinson, an eagle eyed follower of @mactrast on Twitter, has spotted a potential hidden clue as to the launch day of either the iPhone 5 or the iPad 2, or both.
According to Bloomberg, Apple is working on a smaller and cheaper version of the iPhone for direct sale without carrier involvement. The new iPhone will reportedly be dual-mode (for use on any network), and be loaded with similar components as to those used in the current iPhone 4. iPhone Nano anyone?
Well, it’s only been a matter of days (a matter of hours for some) since the iPhone 4 was unleashed upon the world, but our good friends at TiPb have already released a comprehensive guide for jailbreaking it via Greenpois0n. If you own a Verizon iPhone and want to take advantage of what jailbreaking has to offer, I encourage you to take a look at their tutorial!
Today, Apple pushed out the iOS 4.2.6 update via iTunes for the Verizon iPhone 4. The update coincides with the official launch of the Verizon iPhone 4, and addresses a minor issue with the Personal Hotspot feature where the iPhone could show inaccurate usage information for hotspot data. Some Verizon iPhones have shipped with 4.2.6 pre-installed, so very few if any customers need to worry about taking the time to update their device.
Researchers in Germany have found an exploit that will reveal passwords that are stored on your iPhone. What’s even more worrying is that it took under 6 minutes and didn’t require a passcode to unlock the iPhone.
AT&T announced today that they have enhanced their free mobile-to-mobile calling feature to include any mobile phone on any carried. The only requirements for eligibility are a qualifying voice plan and the addition of an unlimited texting program.
I’m a Mac, and I freely admit it. I’m an Apple fan boy, I own an iPhone 4 and a MacBook Pro, I drool over all of Apple’s newest creations, and I hunger and thirst to obtain the Apple products that I don’t already own. It’s been that way for years, and for most of that time, it’s felt comfortable and secure… It’s just felt right. Over the last year or so, however, I noticed a certain disturbance in the force: I was becoming a hater. I was quarreling with Android’s high priests, guffawing at Windows Phone 7 and it’s “pitiful” followers, and had somehow formed it in my mind that the BlackBerry had been gruesomely murdered by a gang of competing smart phones.
According to their recent press release, Walmart plans to be among the very first retailers to sell the Verizon iPhone 4. Their sales will begin tomorrow, February 10th, and they will sell the phones for the Verizon subsidized prices of $199 for the 16GB version, and $299 for the 32GB version. With a projected delivery date of the 18th coming from Apple, it just might be to the advantage of early adopters to pick one up at the big box store that everyone loves to hate!
What are the best iPhone apps for finding the chords to your favourite songs? Here are the three best I have found to date.
You’ve hungered and thirsted for it, you’ve dreamed about it, you even tried to sell your soul on eBay to be able to afford it off-contract, and now it’s finally here (as of a couple of hours ago officially!) Happy Verizon iPhone Day! Now even non-Verizon customers (though not for long) can finally be ordered or reserved for shipping to home or pickup from the Apple store on February 18th. Your wait is almost over, my friends!
The iControlPad is the stuff of legend. It has long been one of those fabled unicorns of the Apple Accessory community, having been long rumored, yet having never actually seen the market until this historic day. Now, it has officially presented itself as available. Yet those of you unfamiliar are asking: Sure, but what is it?
According to the good folks at 9to5Mac, the Verizon iPhone is more than meets the eye. Apparently the Verizon iPhone is based on the Qualcomm MDM6600 chip, which is dual-mode GSM and CDMA compatible. This is all great news, as it means that VZW iPhone users will be able to enjoy a more global iPhone experience, however it’s important to note that it still won’t be usable by folks tied to SIM cards. You’ll have to wait until iPhone 5 for that.
According to Engadget, a shelf tag describing a white 16GB AT&T iPhone has appeared at a Best Buy in Houston. According to the tag, the 16GB model will feature a price tag of $599 off contract, which is the same price as the black model is currently.
Irish based phone carrier, and iPhone seller, Three Mobile don’t want you to be able to enjoy the web as intended. In a very head-in-the-sand manner, the carrier has blocked any access to various Jailbreak sites that may allow you to ditch them for another carrier.
It seems that at least one happy Verizon customer has already received his shiny new Verizon iPhone 4! He picked it up from the UPS facility yesterday, and has posted a YouTube video documenting the unboxing of his new beauty.
