Report: Apple Could Sell 15 Million MacBooks By The End Of The Year

Following today’s earlier news that Apple has already sold over 500,000 of the new MacBook Airs they just released yesterday, a new report indicates that MacBook Air sales should continue to remain strong, and that Apple may sell up to 15 million new MacBook Airs by year’s end.

According to new benchmarks, however, that may no longer be the case, as the newly released MacBook Pros achieve comparable benchmark results to 2010′s high-end MacBook Pro.

It’s a busy day for Apple! Hot on the heels of OS X Lion hitting the Mac App Store, Apple has also updated their Macbook Air range. The major changes include a bump in processors to Sandy Bridge i5 and i7 processors, Thunderbolt, backlit keyboard, and all-flash storage. The 11.6″ and 13″ Airs range from 1.6GHz i5 to 1.8Ghz i7 (optional update), 2GB to 4GB RAM, 64GB to 265GB flash storage.

Report: Lion, New MacBook Airs Likely To Arrive Wednesday

Despite the fact that we have good reason to think that Lion will be released on Friday, considering that all past OS X releases were issued on Friday, and Apple employees are blocked from vacation that day, a new report nevertheless suggests a Wednesday release for the new hardware and OS.
