Although Apple’s iPhone 4 has been the world’s best-selling handset since its release in June of 2000, a new survey conducted by RBC capital markets suggests that the upcoming iPhone 5 is seeing unprecedented consumer demand ahead of its anticipated release next month.

If new claims from Concord Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo are to be believed, Apple’s 5th-gen iPhone 5 will remain largely identical to the iPhone 4, will feature the same 512MB RAM found in the iPhone 4, and will have an improved, redesigned antenna.

According to Concord Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple plans to release the golden master version of iOS 5 to manufacturers between September 23-30. Manufacturers will then flash the OS onto iPhone handsets in time for the iPhone 5 launch in October.

As the public unveiling of the iPhone 5 draws closer, international carrier Korea Telecom seems to be hinting that the iPhone 5 will be available in 16GB and 32GB sizes, with no mention being made of a 64GB model.

I can picture Tim Cook looking at Sprint and wondering what they’ll do next!
The US based carrier isn’t exactly being coy about the possibility of an iPhone 5 arriving in October. Check out the below internal notification for Sprint employees that informs them of a “black out” due to a possible release of a major phone.

A screenshot found by Sprintfeed within Sprint’s internal systems is showing that Sprint has put a vacation blackout in effect for the first half of October, from September 30th to October 15th, likely in preparation for the iPhone 5.

Sprint users hoping to get an iPhone 5 may be in store for some very good news. Bloomberg reports that Sprint will not only offer the iPhone 5 next month, as previous reports have suggested, but will offer an unlimited data plan to go along with it.

In yet another sign that Apple’s forthcoming iPhone 5 is nearly upon us, DigiTimes reports that Foxconn Electronics is boosting iPhone 5 production to 150,000 units per day. Foxconn expects to ship 5-6 million iPhone 5′s in September.

A curious new report from the folks at Pocketnow.com claims to reveal the first ever publicly shared picture taken from an iPhone 5. The image was posted on Apple engineer Anton D’Auria’s Flickr page, and the metadata suggests it was taken from an iPhone with an 8-megapixel camera.

A new report from BeatWeek suggests that at least one Apple Retail Store is having Sprint signal repeaters installed, strengthening rumors that the iPhone 5 may support Sprint’s cellular network at launch.

After a supposed iPhone 5 design document surfaced back in July, a number of cases have begun to surfaced based on that design. Using measurements from the design document, MacRumors has determined that if these cases are accurate, the iPhone 5 could have a 4″ or larger screen!

Japanese tech blog Macotakara is reporting that the iPhone 5 has already entered production, and are being produced without firmware due to iOS 5 not yet being ready.

Apple has already begun training their retail employees on the upcoming iOS 5, as well as the iCloud service expected to release near the same time. This training process could be seen as a sign that iOS 5 and iCloud are very near to public release.
