It has been a common request from MacBook Air users ever since the 2010 refresh – bring back the backlit keyboard! Now, according to a recent report, it appears that the latest MacBook Air models, expected to arrive on July 14, may finally see a return to the backlit keyboard that so many have missed.

According to a recent report, Apple may be planning to ship over 8 million MacBook Airs in the third quarter of 2011. If true, this would mean that Apple hopes to sell twice as many MacBook Airs in the next three months than they did all Macs total in the Q2.
